Wedding Weekend Part 1

Happy Friday everyone! Hunter and I’s first anniversary is this Sunday, so I thought that over the course of this weekend I would share with y’all a sneak peek into our wedding.

This time last year, Peaches To Palmettos was just a blank screen. The domain had been bought, and my ideas were just starting to come to life. The only downside to “going live” later last summer was that some of the most special moments, I didn’t get to share with you.

I was truly blown away by my friends and family, who hosted showers, parties, and lunches. The support and love they showed us was overwhelming. I must especially thank two very special women though, who without them I would have never met my best friend, my better half, my husband Hunter. My mom Cynthia and my mother in law Kathy, are the reason I am writing this post today and who I owe my love life too.

How we met

I am going to try to keep this short because I have so much to share with you guys. To make a long story short Hunter and I were set up – by our mothers. Our mom’s had become good friends from church and over the course of many months, they plotted for us to meet. We met at a mutual friends house to help prepare for a wedding that was happening that upcoming weekend. He was painting chargers and I was creating a candy buffet. We said hi, had a short conversation and that was about it. That wedding though changed everything. Great music and let’s be honest a little alcohol, brought us together until we had talked and danced the night away. A few weeks later I officially on summer break from Ole Miss and we became close friends. In fact, we had been dating for about three months before I found out our initial meeting (and invites to that wedding)  had all been a setup, but by that time I didn’t care. So thank you, Mom and Kathy, for plotting our future. Moms are always right 🙂

Our Engagement

You could call Florida our second home. Most of my family lives there and I am fortunate enough to make it there multiple times a year. This was a special trip though, and my family was all staying at the Gasparilla Inn in Boca Grande, Florida. Each year Garden and Gun does B4 Weekend at the inn with parties full of beach, bourbon, BBQ and beer (get the B4 now?) This weekend had been on my bucket list of things to do and I couldn’t have been more excited to be doing it with Hunter and my family. My aunt, who at the time worked for a florist and event company who was doing the table designs for the parties. Friday night before the first big party, my aunt asked if we could all come to the beach club to help her set up flowers for the event. She wanted help doing the finishing touches, plus she was going to give us an inside look before all the guests arrived. However, when we arrived the joke was on me. Instead of being put to work, I found a heart made completely of pink roses on the beach, with a sign asking to marry me. I can still remember arriving at the beach club and wondering where everyone went. Secretly they were all in a room that overlooked the beach, so they could watch. As Hunter was walking me toward the heart, all I could think about was “are those actually for us?” “What if they aren’t?!” It was a magic night with my family and my new fiancé.

Engagement Party

We held our engagement party in October at my parents home. It was so much fun especially since it was our first pre-wedding party!  I wanted to share this more because my mom did almost all of it including the decorations, dessert bar, and flowers.
